Wrath of God

The Wrath of God

‘Preparation for Judgment’

Revelation 15:5 – “After this I looked and in heaven the temple, that is, the tabernacle of Testimony, was opened.”

Revelation 15:1 – “Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels who had seven plagues, which are the last, because in them the wrath of God is finished.”

Revelation 15:7 – “Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever.”

The First Five Bowls of Wrath:

Revelation 16:1 – “Then I heard a loud voice from the temple, saying to the seven angels, ‘Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God.’ ”

Revelation 15:6 – “Out of the temple came the seven angels with the seven plagues.  They were dressed in clean, shining linen and wore golden sashes round their chests.”

Full measure of God’s wrath is poured out here with the bowl judgments, compared to 1/4 measure with the first four seals and 1/3 measure with the first four trumpet judgments.  Following all this, Babylon (the Beast Empire) receives a double portion of God’s wrath.  Once at the Fall of Babylon in Revelation 18:6 and a second time at the 7th Bowl Judgment.

The plagues are directed at the earth dwellers only, not believers.  Believers are not appointed to wrath.

“Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until His wrath has passed by.” – Isaiah 26:20

“Wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come.” – 1 Thessalonians 1:10

“For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:9

“Come out of her [Babylon] my people, so that you will not receive any of her plagues.” – Revelation 18:4

The plagues may happen in rapid succession just like in Egypt.  All 10 plagues in Egypt occurred within a one month span according to ‘The Annals of the World’.

On page 37 of ‘The Annals of the World’ it is recorded of Egypt’s 10 plagues:

  • water became blood – lasted 7 days
  • the plague of frogs – lasted one day
  • the third plague: gnats/lice
  • fourth: flies (there were no swarms of flies in the land of Goshen, where the Israelites lived)
  • Wrath of God
    Ten Plagues of Egypt

    fifth: diseased livestock

  • sixth plague: boils, on men and animals
  • 7th: thunderstorm of hail and fire.  There was hail and fire during the 1st Trumpet judgment – Revelation 8:7.
  • 8th plague: locusts.  Locusts appeared at the opening of the abyss at the 5th Trumpet – Revelation 9:3.
  • ninth plague: darkness – lasted 3 days. But the Israelites had light.
  • tenth and final plague was the death of all firstborn.  The Hebrews were ‘covered by the blood of the Lamb’.  They had spread the blood of sacrificial lambs on their thresholds – Exodus 11 – and were spared from the wrath of God.  The Jewish Passover feast is an annual celebration to this day commemorating that very important and significant event.

A point of interest: Egypt’s plagues sent by God were specific to mock their false ‘gods’.  Their deity Hapi personified the Nile, Hekt was their frog goddess, Hathor the cow goddess, Apis the bull-god, goddess Isis was suppose to be Egypt’s protectrix against locusts, Ra the sun god – all of which failed to protect the Egyptians from the wrath of God, the one true god.

“I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt.” – Exodus 12:12

Revelation 15:8 – “And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power; and no one was able to enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were finished.”

So that means no one will be able to enter the temple until after the pouring out of the 7th bowl at the sounding of the 7th and last trumpet.

Wrath of God

1st Bowl:

Revelation 16:2 – “So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth; and it became a loathsome and malignant sore on the people who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image.”

Boils were the sixth plague in Egypt.

2nd Bowl:

Revelation 16:3 – “The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became blood like that of a dead man, and every living thing in the sea died.”

3rd Bowl:

Revelation 16:4 – “Then the third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of waters; and they became blood.”

The first plague in Egypt: ’The blood was through all the land of Egypt.’ – Exodus 7:21.

Revelation 16:5 – “Then the angel in charge of the waters said: ‘You are just in these judgments, you who are and who were, the Holy One, because you have so judged.”

This verse confirms God is now reigning – there isn’t any longer the future phrase: ‘and who is to come’.  God is ruling and meting out His wrath.

Revelation 16:6-7 – “ ‘For they have shed the blood of your saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve.’  And I heard the altar respond: ‘Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and just are your judgments.’ ”

4th Bowl:

Revelation 16:8-9 – “The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was given power to scorch people with fire.  They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him.”

5th Bowl:

wrathRevelation 16:10-11- “Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became darkened; and they gnawed their tongues because of pain, and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores; and they did not repent of their deeds.”

Exodus 10:21 – “Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even a darkness which may be felt.’  So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days.”  This was the ninth plague.

Ezekiel 32:7-8 – “ ‘When I snuff you out, I will cover the heavens and darken their stars; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light.  All the shining lights in the heavens I will darken over you; I will bring darkness over your land,’ declares the Sovereign Lord.”

As just read in Revelation 16:10 – there is now darkness on the Beast’s throne and his kingdom.

After the plague of darkness, like in Egypt, God’s final judgment is coming.
