The Lord Jesus Christ’s 1,000 year Reign

The Lord’s Millennium Reign

Revelation 20:6 “Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection.  The second death [lake of fire] has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.”

Revelation 20:4 – “Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them.  And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God [one group], and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received Lordthe mark on their forehead and on their hand [another group – Daniel’s Great Tribulation saints – reread Revelation 15:2-4]; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.”

Please read the post: Fifth Seal – Commentary for a study on the difference between the two groups of believers.  One group: ‘the souls of those who had  been beheaded’ and the second group: ‘those who had not worshiped the beast’.

“Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most High.  His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey Him.” – Daniel 7:27

Revelation 20:5 – “(The rest of the dead [the unbelievers, the evildoers and those who took the mark of the beast] did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.)  This is the first resurrection [Christ’s return and the Rapture].

THE HOLY TRINITY

GRAIN – NEW WINE – OIL:

“Then the Lord will be zealous for His land and will have pity on His people.  The Lord will answer and say to His people, ‘Behold, I am going to send you grain, new wine and oil, and you will be satisfied in full with them; and I will never again make you a reproach among the nations.’ ” – Joel 2:19

“The earth will respond to the grain, to the new wine and to the oil, and they will respond to Jezreel.” – Hosea 2:22 (Jezreel means ‘God will sow’)

  • grain: Jesus Christ – the bread of life
  • new wine: God – and His true doctrines
  • oil: the Holy Spirit

“Those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.” – Psalm 37:9

“But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace.” – Psalm 37:11

“For the Lord has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling: ‘This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it – I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor will I satisfy with food.  I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints shall ever sing for joy.’ ” – Psalm 132:13-16

“Praise be to the Lord from Zion, to Him who dwells in Jerusalem.” – Psalm 135:21

“This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem: In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it.  Many peoples will come and say, ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob.  He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths.’  The law will go out from Zion, the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.  He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples.  They will beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks.  Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war any more.  Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord.” – Isaiah 2:1-5

“He will delight in the fear of the Lord, and He will not judge by what His eyes see, nor make a decision by what His ears hear; but with righteousness He will judge the poor, and decide with fairness for the afflicted of the earth; and He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked.  Also righteousness will be the belt about His loins, and faithfulness the belt about His waist.  And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little boy will lead them.  Also the cow and the bear will graze, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox.  The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra, and the weaned child will put his hand on the viper’s den.  They will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” – Isaiah 11:3-9

“The oppressor will come to an end, and destruction will cease; the aggressor will vanish from the land.  In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it – one from the house of David – one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness.” – Isaiah 16:5

” ‘Behold, days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and the house of Judah.  In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch of David to spring forth; and He shall execute justice and righteousness on the earth.  In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will dwell in safety; and this is the name by which she will be called: the Lord is our righteousness.’ ” – Jeremiah 33:14-16

“And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness.  The unclean will not journey on it; it will be for those who walk in that Way; wicked fools will not go about on it.  No lion will be there, nor will any ferocious beast get up on it; they will not be found there.  But only the redeemed will walk there, and the ransomed of the Lord will return.  They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads.  Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.” – Isaiah 35:8-10

“A voice of one calling: ‘In the desert prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.’ ” – Isaiah 40:3

“Pass through, pass through the gates!  Prepare the way for the people.  Build up, build up the highway!  Remove the stones.  Raise a banner for the nations.” – Isaiah 62:10

” ‘Enter through the narrow gate.  For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.’ ” – Matthew 7:13-14

“I will open rivers on the bare heights and springs in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water and the dry land fountains of water.” – Isaiah 41:18

“For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.  Instead of the thorn bush the cypress will come up, and instead of the nettle the myrtle will come up, and it will be a memorial to the Lord, for an everlasting sign which will not be cut off.” – Isaiah 55:12-13

“For this is what the Lord says: ‘To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, who choose what pleases Me and hold fast to My Covenant – to them I will give within My temple and its walls a memorial and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that will not be cut off.  And foreigners who bind themselves to the Lord to serve Him, to love the name of the Lord, and to worship Him, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to My covenant – these I will bring to My holy mountain and give them joy in My house of prayer.  Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.’ ” – Isaiah 56:4-7

” ‘I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them and be their shepherd.  I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David will be prince among them.  I the Lord have spoken.  I will make a covenant of peace with them and rid the land of wild beasts so that they may live in the desert and sleep in the forests in safety.  I will bless them and the places surrounding my hill.  I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing.  The trees of the field will yield their fruit and the ground will yield its crops; the people will be secure in their land.  They will know that I am the Lord, when I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from the hands of those who enslaved them.  They will no longer be plundered by the nations, nor will wild animals devour them.  They will live in safety, and no-one will make them afraid.  I will provide for them a land renowned for its crops, and they will no longer be victims of famine in the land or bear the scorn of the nations.  Then they will know that I, the Lord their God, am with them and that they, the house of Israel, are my people, declares the Sovereign Lord.  You my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are people, and I am your God, declares the Sovereign Lord.’ ” – Ezekiel 34:23-31 – around 587 BC

“This land that was laid waste has become like the garden of Eden.” – Ezekiel 36:35

” ‘My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd.  They will follow my laws and be careful to keep my decrees.  They will live in in the land I gave to my servant Jacob, the land where your fathers lived.  They and their children and their children’s children will live there for ever, and David my servant will be their prince for ever.  I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant.  I will establish them and increase their numbers, and I will put my sanctuary among them for ever.  My dwelling-place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people.  Then the nations will know that I the Lord make Israel holy, when my sanctuary is among them for ever.’ ” – Ezekiel 37:24-28

“Then the man brought me to the gate facing east, and I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east.  His voice was like the roar of rushing waters, and the land was radiant with his glory.  … The glory of the Lord entered the temple through the gate facing east.  Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. … ‘Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place for the soles of my feet.  This is where I will live among the Israelites for ever.” – Ezekiel 43:1-7

The River from the Temple’:

“The man brought me back to the entrance to the temple [this is during the millennium period of Jesus Christ’s reign because it states in Revelation 21:22 under “The New Jerusalem”: ‘I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.’], and I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple towards the east (for the temple faced east).  The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar.  He then brought me out through the north gate and led me round the outside to the outer gate facing east, and the water was flowing from the south side.  As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and then led me through water that was ankle-deep.  He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep.  He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist.  He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in – a river that no-one could cross.  He asked me: ‘Son of man, do you see this?’  Then he led me back to the bank of the river.  When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river.  He said to me, ‘This water flows towards the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah (the Jordan Valley), where it enters the Sea (the Dead Sea).  When it empties into the Sea, the water there becomes fresh.  Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows.  There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.  Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi (beside the Dead Sea) to En Eglaim (where the Jordan River enters the Dead Sea) there will be places for spreading nets.  The fish will be of many kinds – like the fish of the Great Sea (the Mediterranean).  But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.  Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river.  Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail.  Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them.  Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.’ ” Ezekiel 47: 1-12

“In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.” – Daniel 2:44

“In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it.  Many nations will come and say, reign‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob.  He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths.’  The law will go out from Zion, the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.  He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide.  They will beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks.  Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war any more.” – Micah 4:1-3 [Isaiah and Micah were contemporaries – both around 750 B.C. – Micah quoted Isaiah here]

” ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: “In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.  I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,” says the Lord Almighty.  “The silver is mine and the gold is mine,” declares the Lord Almighty.  “The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,” says the Lord Almighty.  “And in this place I will grant peace,” declares the Lord Almighty.’ ” – Haggai 2:6-9

“Therefore, this is what the Lord says, ‘I will return to Jerusalem with mercy, and there my house will be rebuilt.  And the measuring line will be stretched out over Jerusalem,’ declares the Lord Almighty.  Proclaim further: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘My towns will again overflow with prosperity, and the Lord will again comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem.’ ” – Zechariah 1:16-17

“Then I looked up – and there before me was a man with a measuring line in his hand!  I asked, ‘Where are you going?’  He answered me, ‘To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is.’  Then the angel who was speaking to me left, and another angel came to meet him and said to him: ‘Run, tell that young man, “Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of men and livestock in it.  And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,” declares the Lord,’ and I will be its glory within.” – Zechariah 2:1-5

Remember Apostle John had been commanded to “measure the temple of God and the altar” in Revelation 11:1 in the ‘Two Witnesses’ chapter, at the start of the tribulation.  Measuring holds importance.

“The Lord Almighty says, ‘I am very jealous for Zion; I am burning with jealousy for her.’  This is what the Lord says: ‘I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem.  Then Jerusalem will be called The City of Truth, and the mountain of the Lord Almighty will be called The Holy Mountain.’ ” – Zechariah 8:1-3

“Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘It will yet be that peoples will come, even the inhabitants of many cities.  The inhabitants of one will go to another, saying, “Let us go at once to entreat the favour of the Lord, and to seek the Lord  of hosts; I will also go.”  So many peoples and mighty nations will come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem and to entreat the favour of the Lord.’ ” – Zechariah 8:20-22

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” – Matthew 5:5

“ ‘Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.  Everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms for My name’s sake will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life.’ ” – Matthew 19:28-29

“ ‘and just as My Father has granted Me a kingdom, I grant you that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelves tribes of Israel.’ ” – Luke 22:29-30

“Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world?  If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts?  Do you not know that we will judge angels?” – 1 Corinthians 6:2-3
