God Created…

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” – Genesis 1:1

Most of us know the above Scripture as being the very first verse of the very first chapter of the Bible.

And in the New Testament it is written:

“…God who created all things…” – Ephesians 3:9

That includes mankind:

  • “The Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”- Genesis 2:7
  • “ ‘Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female.’ “ – Matthew 19:4

And even more detail of God’s created man:

“In the day when God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.” – Genesis 5:1

God, our Creator, has made absolutely everything, “All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.” – John 1:3

God created the heavens we all enjoy gazing up at:

  • “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained…” – Psalm 8:3
  • “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of His mouth all their host.” – Psalm 33:6
  • “Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these stars, the One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, not one of them is missing.” – Isaiah 40:26
  • “Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His hosts!  Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all stars of light!  Praise Him, highest heavens, and the waters that are above the heavens!  Let them praise the name of the Lord, for He commanded and they were created.” – Psalm 148:2-5

It takes a mighty Creator to make the sun and moon, to make the solar system, to make the Milky Way galaxy, to make the entire universe – it is impossible for random chance to make such an elaborate and intricate masterpiece.  No ‘natural process’ could ever generate the complex and beautifully organized systems of the creation.

The created heavens praise Him:

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.” – Psalm 19:1-2.  The glory of God refers to His infinite power.  The phrases ‘pour forth speech’ and ‘display knowledge’ are teaching men and women of all times and places that there is a great Creator God who made it all.  The innumerable complexities of the universe all unite in irrefutable testimony to the God of creation.

The universe knows and declares the glory of God – how much more should we.

However, for those who deny the truth:

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” – Romans 1:20.  This passage states that mankind does not have any reason whatsoever to reject the one true God, our Creator of everything.  They will be ‘without excuse’ on judgment day.  But then it will be too late for them all.

“For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old…” – 2 Peter 3:5.  Here is another verse stating mankind ‘willingly’ – by their own choosing – deny and reject the Lord.  They are truly in rebellion to God, our Creator.  Pray for the lost that they come to repentance and return to their Lord, their Creator.

All nature knows their Creator:

  • “But now ask the beasts, and let them teach you; and the birds of the heavens, and let them tell you.  Or speak to the earth, and let it teach you; and let the fish of the sea declare to you.  Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this, in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind?” – Job 12:7-10
  • ‘But if God so clothes the grass of the field,God created which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you?  You of little faith.’ ” – Matthew 6:30
  • “For the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods, in whose hands are the depths of the earth, the peaks of the mountains are His also.  The sea is His, for it was He who made it, and His hands formed the dry land.” – Psalm 95:3-5
  • “ ‘Drip down, O heavens, from above, and let the clouds pour down righteousness; let the earth open up and salvation bear fruit, and righteousness spring up with it.  I, the Lord, have created it.’ ” – Isaiah 45:8
  • “You alone are the Lord.  You have made the heavens, the heaven of heavens with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them.  You give life to all of them and the heavenly host bows down before You.” – Nehemiah 9:6

‘And the heavenly host bows down before You.’  Amen and hallelujah.

God, the Great Creator:

  • “It is He who made the earth by His power, who established the world by His wisdom; and by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens.” – Jeremiah 10:12
  • “The One forming light and creating darkness…I am the Lord who does all…” – Isaiah 45:7
  • “Know that the Lord Himself is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.” – Psalm 100:3

Ecclesiastes 3:11 has some powerful messages: “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” – Ecclesiastes 3:11.  He has also made a ‘God hole’ in our hearts – a hole, an emptiness, a longing that can only be filled by God Himself when we come to Him: “He has also set eternity in the hearts of men.” – Ecclesiastes 3:11

How many people have we heard say their life is empty, they have no purpose or meaning, nothing gives them happiness and joy.  And when they turn their lives over to the Lord and Saviour:

  • “You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” – Psalm 16:11
  • “You have filled my heart with greater joy…” – Psalm 4:7
  • “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 15:13
  • ” ‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.’ ” – Jeremiah 29:11
  • “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.” – 1 Peter 1:3-4

More blessings from our Creator:

  • “for You created my inmost being” – Psalm 139:13
  • “The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” – Job 33:4
  • “The Lord…forms the spirit of man within him.” – Zechariah 12:1
  • “The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord has made both of them.” – Proverbs 20:12
  • “He formed the hearts of them all.” – Psalm 33:15
  • “Do we not all have one father?  Has not one God created us?” – Malachi 2:10
  • ‘…from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female.’ ” – Mark 10:6

Even more blessings from our Maker, to those who put their trust in Him:

  • “My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” – Psalm 121:2
  • “I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all Your works.” – Psalm 73:28
  • “But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord, I say, ‘You are my God.’  My times are in Your hand.” – Psalm 31:14-15
  • “At that time men will trust in their Creator, they will depend on the Holy One of Israel.” – Isaiah 17:7
  • “Thus says the Lord, your Creator…and He who formed you…do not fear, for I have redeemed you.” – Isaiah 43:1
  • “Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb, I, the Lord, am the maker of all things…” – Isaiah 44:24
  • “For your husband is your Maker, whose name is the Lord of hosts; and your redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, who is called the God of all the earth.” – Isaiah 54:5
  • “Our deliverer is the Lord, the Creator of heaven and earth.” – Psalm 124:8
  • “In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.” – Psalm 62:7
  • “By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.” – Hebrews 11:3
  • “May you be blessed of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” – Psalm 115:15

But to the rebellious and the unbelievers:

  • “Woe to the one who quarrels with his Maker.” – Isaiah 45:9
Wisdom from the Book of Job:
  • “Can a mortal be more righteous than God?  Can a man be more pure than his Maker?” – Job 4:17
  • “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?” – Job 38:4
  • “Or do you have an arm like God, and can you thunder with a voice like His?” – Job 40:9

  • “From the breath of God ice is made, and the expanse of the waters is frozen.” – Job 37:10
  • “The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” – Job 33:4
  • “I am so insignificant.  How can I answer You?  I place my hand over my mouth.” – Job 40:4

The Apostle Paul stated: “…you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.” – Acts 14:15

For those who are struggling:

  • “So let those who are suffering by the will of God trust their souls to Him, their faithful Creator, as they continue to do right.” – 1 Peter 4:19
  • “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” – 1 Corinthians 10:13
  • And pray: “Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:17
  • “The rich and the poor have a common bond, the Lord is the maker of them all.” – Proverbs 22:2

More beautiful scripture about the Lord our Maker:

  • “For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.” – Psalm 33:9
  • “Ah Lord God!  Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm!  Nothing is too difficult for You.” – Jeremiah 32:17
  • “For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things have been created through Him and for Him.” – Colossians 1:16

The list of created things in the above verse is exhaustive: heaven, earth, visible and invisible things, and the rulers in and of the universe – thrones, dominions, principalities, powers.  Jesus Christ is “far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.” – Ephesians 1:21

  • “The Lord has made everything for its own purpose.” – Proverbs 16:4
  • “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth…but be glad and rejoice forever in what I create.” – Isaiah 65:17

Let us give thanks, worship and praise to the Lord God, our Creator:

  • “Come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.” – Psalm 95:6

  • “Blessed be the Lord…who has made heaven and earth.” – 2 Chronicles 2:12

In the Book of Revelation it is written:
