The Blood of the Lamb

‘The Blood of the Lamb’, ’The Word of God’, ‘The Testimony of Jesus Christ’, ‘The Word of their testimony’, ‘victorious over the Beast’ references in the Book of Revelation:

Those who put their faith in the work of Jesus Christ on the cross have been made new.  Salvation comes from having one’s robes washed in the blood of the Lamb.  It’s an amazing picture of the purity that comes with salvation and the price the Lord Jesus paid for our redemption – “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us.” – Ephesians 1:7

The following are the Scripture passages in the Book of Revelation writing about the believers and the Church during the Tribulation:

It starts with Apostle John at the very beginning of chapter one: – “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John, who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.” – Revelation 1:1-2, and “I, John, your brother and fellow partaker in the tribulation and kingdom and perseverance which are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.” – Revelation 1:9

The next section is concerning all His saints:

“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” – Revelation 12:11.  This was included in the proclamation spoken by a loud voice in heaven after the defeat of Satan by Michael.  Consequently, Satan and his angels were hurled to the earth, to no longer have access to heaven.

“Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring – those who obey God’s commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.” – Revelation 12:17
After Satan was thrown down out of heaven, he tried to pursue God’s people, the Israelites.  However they fled into the desert where God protects them for the three and a half years.  So Satan will turn his attention of his ruthless persecution onto Jesus’ believers during the Great Tribulation – the second 3 1/2 years of the seven year tribulation.

But first, all the past centuries’ saints are under the altar at the Fifth Seal, which marks the end of the first half of the seven year tribulation.  The saints are being given recognition:
“When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained … and there was given to each of them a white robe; and they were told that they should rest for a little while longer, until …” – Revelation 6:9-11 – see next Scripture verse as it transitions:

The Great Tribulation saints make up another, unique group of believers:

“… the number of their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed even as they had been, would be completed also.” – Revelation 6:11

This is the rest of the passage from the saints under the altar (from the previous paragraph).  There develops a distinction between all the saints throughout the ages and the believers who will be persecuted in the great tribulation.

The Mark of the Beast:

“And a third angel followed them, calling in loud a voice, ‘If anyone worships the beast and its image, and receives its mark on his forehead or hand, he too will drink the wine of God’s anger, poured undiluted into the cup of His wrath.  And he will be tormented in fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.  And the smoke of their torment will rise forever and ever.  Day and night there will be no rest for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.’ ” – Revelation 14:9-11

“Here is a call for the endurance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” – Revelation 14:12

This is during the ‘Three Angels with Three Messages’ event.  It follows the 6th Trumpet which marks the beginning of the second half of the tribulation and before the Beast begins his 3 1/2 year reign of terror.  All people are receiving God’s grave warning not to take the mark of the Beast.  And the repetition signifies the message’s importance.  Here also God’s people receive encouragement to endure.

The Fall of Babylon:

After the fall of Babylon and the Beast empire, there’s another reference to the great tribulation saints as they rejoice and sing the Song of Moses and the Lamb: “Those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, holding harps of God.” – Revelation 15:2

The Woman on the Beast:

The following verse is about ‘the woman on the beast’/’the great prostitute’ in Revelation 17:  “And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus.” – Revelation 17:6   KJV writes it: “the blood of the martyrs of Jesus”; NIV writes it: “the blood of those who bore the testimony of Jesus”   The word ‘drunk’ is a metaphor for excessive.  The whore is intoxicated with all her persecution and killing of Jesus’ believers.  Revelation 17 is concerning the fall of the ‘great whore’ – taken down by The Beast and the ten nations after their Beast Empire collapses.

A Multitude from the Tribulation:

Another reference to the Tribulation Saints, after the 7th Trumpet judgment when God’s wrath has been poured out on the wicked world, there’s a great multitude standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb: “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” – Revelation 7:14

Note the phrase: ‘come out of’ the great tribulation.  To come out of something, you first have to be in it.  This comes from the Greek word ‘ek’ which means: ‘out of’.  This statement in the Bible contradicts the pre-trib rapture theory.  “For the time will come when men will not tolerate sound doctrine, but with itching ears they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires. So they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” – 2 Timothy 4:3-4.  Readers, please beware of false teachers – ‘the wolf in sheep’s clothing’.  Do not be deceived.  Click here for article: Pre or Post Tribulation Rapture

The following writes about the 1,000 year millennium and again refers to all the saints throughout time: “the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God,” – Revelation 20:4

– in contrast with the rest of the same verse:

“and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand.” – Revelation 20:4

This specifically is writing concerning the great tribulation saints – they receive exclusive recognition.

A blessing for ALL God’s people:

” ‘Blessed are they that wash their robes in the blood of the Lamb: that they may have a right to the tree of life and may enter in by the gates into the city.’ ” – Revelation 22:14 – from the final chapter of the Book of Revelation.

The Angel’s statement:

“Then he said to me, “Write, “Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” ‘   And he said to me, ‘These are true words of God.’  At this I fell at the angel’s feet to worship him.  But he said to me: ‘Do not do it!  I am a fellow-servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus.  Worship God!  For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.’ ” – Revelation 19:9-10
