The Way – The Lord Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ said: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” – John 14:6

The Lord’s Way is revealed many times in Scripture, showing us ‘the Way’ to everlasting salvation.

Scripture also warns against the false way – the wrong way – the broad way – which leads to destruction: “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.  For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” – Matthew 7:13-14

How ironic that the very well known street in New York City where all the ‘look at me’ people strut their stuff is called: ‘Broadway’.

In 2 Peter 2:1-3 we have the one true way contrasted with false prophets and false teachers and their many ‘destruction ways’: “But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.  Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.”

The choice is ours.  “See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity; in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live … I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse.  So choose life in order that you may live.” – Deuteronomy 30:15-19

On another note, the above phrase: ‘who will secretly introduce destructive heresies’ is also so very important.  ‘New teachings’ have in more recent times been introduced in the Church – the Pre-Trib Rapture and Once Saved, Always Saved heresies to name two – very serious heresies with dire consequences.  The Bible warned against deceptions.  Refer to my other articles for further details on these topics: Pre or Post Tribulation Rapture  and Can you Fall Away OR is it Once Saved, Always Saved?

Psalm 86, written by David, is titled: ‘Teach me Thy Way, O Lord’.  The following excerpt actually summarizes all we should be:

“Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name.  I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, ad will glorify Your name forever.  For Your lovingkindness toward me is great, and You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.” – Psalm 86:11-13
