Mount Zion – End Times Prophecies

Zion

Zion and Mount Zion scripture verses relating to the End Times and what ensues.  These select verses are in the order in which they appear in The Bible:

  • “But as for Me, I have installed My King upon Zion, My holy mountain.” – Psalm 2:6
  • “So the nations will fear the name of the Lord and all the kings of the earth Your glory.  For the Lord has built up Zion; He has appeared in His glory.” – Psalm 102:15-16
  • “The Lord will stretch forth Your strong sceptre from Zion, saying, ‘Rule in the midst of Your enemies.’ ” – Psalm 110:2
  • “Now it will come about that in the last days the mountain of the house of the Lord will be established as the chief of the mountains, and will be raised above the hills; and all the nations will stream to it.  And many peoples will come and say, ‘Come, let up go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that He may teach us concerning His ways and that we may walk in His paths.’  For the law will go forth from Zion and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.  And He will judge between the nations, and will render decisions for many peoples; and they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.  Nation will not lift up sword against nation, and never again will they learn war.” – Isaiah 2:2-4
  • “Then the moon will be abashed and the sun ashamed, for the Lord of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and His glory will be before His elders.” – Isaiah 24:23
  • “The Lord of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples on this mountain; a banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow, and refined, aged wine.” – Isaiah 25:6
  • “So will the Lord of hosts come down to wage war on Mount Zion and on its hill.” – Isaiah 31:4
  • “For the Lord has a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.” – Isaiah 34:8
  • “And the ransomed of the Lord will return and come with joyful shouting to Zion, with everlasting joy upon their heads.  They will find gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.” – Isaiah 35:10
  • ” ‘I bring near My righteousness, it is not far off; and My salvation will not delay.  And I will grant salvation in Zion, and My glory for Israel.’ ” – Isaiah 46:13
  • “Indeed, the Lord will comfort Zion; He will comfort all her waste places.  And her wilderness He will make like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and sound of a melody.” – Isaiah 51:3
  • “So the ransomed of the Lord will return and come with joyful shouting to Zion, and everlasting joy will be on their heads.  They will obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.” – Isaiah 51:11
  • “Behold, the Lord has proclaimed to the end of the earth, say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Lo, your salvation comes; behold His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him.’  And they will call them, ‘The holy people, the redeemed of the Lord’; and you will be called, ‘Sought out, a city not forsaken.’ ” – Isaiah 62:11-12
  • “ ‘The wolf and the lamb will graze together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox; and dust will be the serpent’s food.  They will do no evil or harm in all My holy mountain,’ says the Lord.” – Isaiah 65:25
  • “ ‘They will come and shout for joy on the height of Zion, and they will be radiant over the bounty of the Lord – over the grain and the new wine and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; and their life will be like a watered garden, and they will never languish again.  Then the virgin will rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old, together, for I will turn their mourning into joy and will comfort them and give them joy for their sorrow.  I will fill the soul of the priests with abundance, and My people will be satisfied with My goodness,’ declares the Lord.” – Jeremiah 31:12-14
  • “They will ask for the way to Zion, turning their faces in its direction; they will come that they may join themselves to the Lord in an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten.” – Jeremiah 50:5
  • “ ‘I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth, blood, fire and columns of smoke.  The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.  And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be delivered; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be those who escape, as the Lord has said, even among the survivors whom the Lord calls.’ ” – Joel 2:30-32
  • “The Lord roars from Zion and utters His voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth tremble.  But the Lord is a refuge for His people and a stronghold to the sons of Israel.  Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, dwelling in Zion, My holy mountain.” – Joel 3:16-17
  • “And I will avenge their blood which I have not avenged, for the Lord dwells in Zion.” – Joel 3:21
  • “And it will come about in the last days that the mountain of the house of the Lord will be established as the chief of the mountains.  It will be raised above the hills, and the peoples will stream to it.  Many nations will come and say, ‘Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord and to the house of the God of Jacob, that He may teach us about His ways and that we may walk in His paths.’  For from Zion will go forth the law, even the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.  And He will judge between many peoples and render decisions for mighty, distant nations.  Then they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks; nation will not lift up sword against nation, and never again will they train for war.” – Micah 4:1-3
  • ” ‘In that day,’ declares the Lord, ‘I will assemble the lame and gather the outcasts, even those whom I have afflicted.  I will make the lame a remnant and the outcasts a strong nation, and the Lord will reign over them in Mount Zion from now on and forever.’ ” – Micah 4:6-7
  • ” ‘Sing for joy and be glad, O daughter of Zion; for behold I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,’ declares the Lord.  ‘Many nations will join themselves to the Lord in that day and will become My people.  Then I will dwell in your midst, and you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you.’ ” – Zechariah 2:10-11
  • “Thus says the Lord, ‘I will return to Zion and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.  Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the Lord of hosts will be called the Holy Mountain.’ ” – Zechariah 8:3

 

 

Zion is Jerusalem.  Zion has also been described both as the city of David and the city of God.

Zion essentially means “fortification” and has the idea of being “raised up” as a “monument”.

Mount Zion is the high hill in Jerusalem, located just outside the walls of the Old City.
