Revelation 12:1-5
Revelation 12:1-5 – is the Book of Revelation’s glorious affirmation of the Lord Christ Jesus – past, present and future. The Woman is Israel and the Dragon, the devil.
Jesus Christ was born to a virgin from the Tribe of Judah, of Israel. God became a man. The dragon – the devil – a fallen angel – attempted to destroy Christ Jesus right from His birth, unsuccessfully. The Lord Christ Jesus conquered death on the Cross and ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of God the Father. He will rule the nations with an iron sceptre.
The Revelation of Jesus Christ
‘The Woman, Israel and the Dragon’:
Revelation 12:1-2 – “A great and wondrous sign appeared in heaven: a woman [Israel] clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars [twelve tribes of Israel] on her head. She was pregnant [with The Messiah] and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.”
‘The Red Dragon, Satan’:
Revelation 12:3-4 – “Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon [Satan] with seven heads [seven empires] and ten horns [ten nations/regions] and seven crowns on his heads. His tail swept a third of the stars [fallen angels] out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour her child the moment it was born.” [Satan attempted to do so through Herod the Great – Matthew 2:16 – “When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under.”]
‘The Male Child, Christ’:
Revelation 12:5 – “She gave birth to a son, a male child [Jesus Christ], who will rule all the nations with an iron sceptre. And her child was snatched up to God [the Ascension] and to His throne.”
