The following are Scripture verses on the Lord Christ Jesus’ Second Coming. 

This first section lists verses describing His appearance – ie – ‘has eyes like a flame of fire’:

“we will see Him just as He is” – 1 John 3:2

“The Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet are like burnished bronze.” – Revelation 2:18

“The Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire.” –  2 Thessalonians 1:7

“For behold, the Lord will come in fire and His chariots like the whirlwind, to render His anger with fury, and His rebuke with flames of fire.” – Isaiah 66:15

“Behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.  His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.  He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God … From His mouth comes a sharp sword.” – Revelation 19:11-15

“I saw one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His chest with a golden sash.  His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire.  His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters.  In His right hand He held seven stars and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength.” – Revelation 1:12-16

“I kept looking until thrones were set up, and the Ancient of Days took His seat; His vesture was like white snow and the hair of His head like pure wool.  His throne was ablaze with flames, its wheels were a burning fire.  A river of fire was flowing and coming out from before Him … the court sat, and the books were opened.” – Daniel 7:9-10

“… there was something resembling a throne … and on that which resembled a throne, high up, was a figure with the appearance of a man.  Then I noticed from the appearance of His loins and upward something like glowing metal that looked like fire all around within it, and from the appearance of His loins and downward I saw something like fire; and there was a radiance around Him.  As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance.  Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord.” – Ezekiel 1:26-28

“His splendour covers the heavens, and the earth is full of His praise.  His radiance is like the sunlight; He has rays flashing from His hand, and there is the hiding of His power.” – Habakkuk 3:3-4

“ ‘But who can endure the day of His coming?  And who can stand when He appears?  For He is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap.  He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify … and refine …” – Malachi 3:2-3

“So they will fear the name of the Lord from the west and His glory from the rising of the sun, for He will come like a rushing stream.” – Isaiah 59:19

“The Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:9

The Lord, Our Redeemer:

“a Redeemer will come to Zion, and to those who turn from transgression” – Isaiah 59:20

“ ‘Lo, your salvation comes; behold His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him.’ ” – Isaiah 62:11

“so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.” – Hebrews 9:28

“ ‘I will come again and receive you to Myself.’ ” – John 14:3

“ ‘I go away, and I will come to you.’ ” – John 14:28

“ ‘But when these things begin to take place straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.’ ” – Luke 21:28

“ ‘This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die.  I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever …’ ” – John 6:50-51

“The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord shall come.  And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” – Acts 2:20-21

“Now may our God and Father Himself and Jesus our Lord direct our way to you … so that He may establish your hearts without blame in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints.” – 1 Thessalonians 3:11-13

His reward is with Him:

“ ‘Lo, your salvation comes; behold His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him.’ ” – Isaiah 62:11

“ ‘Behold, I am coming quickly and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.’ ” – Revelation 22:12

Coming in His glory:

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory …” – Matthew 25:31

“He shall appear in His glory.” – Psalm 102:16

“looking for the blessed hope and the appearance of the glory of our great God and Saviour, Christ Jesus” – Titus 2:13

“ ‘For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory, and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.” – Luke 9:26

“ ‘For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His father with His angels, and will then repay every man according to his deeds.’ ” – Matthew 16:27

“When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.” – Colossians 3:4

Coming on the Clouds:

“Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him.” – Revelation 1:7

“The sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky … and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.” – Matthew 24:30

“They will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.” – Mark 13:26

“ ‘… you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.’ ” – Matthew 26:64

“ ‘you shall see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven’ ” – Mark 14:62

“And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.  And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them.  They also said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky?  This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.’ ” – Acts 1:9-11

“Behold, He is coming with the clouds” – Revelation1:7

“I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven one like a Son of Man was coming.” – Daniel 7:13

“Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:17

Jesus Christ’s Second Coming:

“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:16

“It was also about these men that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, ‘Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones, to execute judgment upon all …’ ” – Jude 1:14

“ ‘You too, be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect.’ ” – Luke 12:40

“ ‘Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.’ ” – Matthew 24:42

“ ‘For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.’ ” – Matthew 24:44

“ ‘For just like the lightning when it flashes out of one part of the sky, shines to the other part of the sky, so will the Son of Man be in His day.’ ” – Luke 17:24

“ ‘But at midnight there was a shout, “Behold, the bridegroom!  Come out to meet him.” ‘ ” – Matthew 25:6

“Behold, I am coming like a thief.  Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes, so that he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame.” – Revelation 16:15

“ ‘But of that day and hour no one knows … for the coming of the Son of man will be just like the days of Noah.  For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be.  Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left.  Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left.’ ” – Matthew 24:36-41

” ‘Therefore, be on the alert – for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning – in case he should come suddenly and find you asleep.  What I say to you I say to all, “Be on the alert!” ‘ “ – Mark 13:35-37

“ ‘There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.  Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.  But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.’ ” – Luke 21:25-28

“ ‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.’ ’ – Revelation 3:20

“ ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.’ ” – Revelation 1:8

“ ‘Yes, I am coming quickly.’ ” – Revelation 22:20
