The Apostle John wrote the Book of Revelation.  John had also written about the Lord Jesus’ End Times prophecies in the Gospel of John.

John Chapter 5 is about Christ Jesus’ sovereignty and ultimate judgment on the wicked.

John 5

Jesus’ Equality with God

5:18 For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

5:19 Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. 21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.

5:22 “For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son, 23 so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. 

5:24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

Two Resurrections

5:25 “Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26 “For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself; 27 and He gave Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man.

5:28 “Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, 29 and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

5:30 “I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

John 6

6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. 36 “But I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe. 37 “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. 38 “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 “This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. 40 “For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”… 43 Jesus answered and said to them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. 44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.”

Notice how the phrase, ‘raise it/him up on the last day’ appears three times over the above five verses.  Christ’s second coming and the Rapture, the resurrection of the believers, occur on the last day.  Then God’s wrath on the unbelievers and Armageddon, which also occur on the last day.  Everything culminates on ‘the last day’.  Click here for the post which provides Scripture verses describing all that will happen on that one, very unique day: In That Day: The Day of the Lord – Part One. 

John 11

11:23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, ’I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”  27 She said to Him, “Yes, Lord; I have believed that You are the Christ, the Son of God, even He who comes into the world.’ “

John 12

12:48 “He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day. 49 “For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak. 50 “I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.”

John 14

14:1 “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.  2 In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; For I go to prepare a place for you.  3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.  4 And you know the way where I am going.”

John 15

15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. 6 “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.”

Psalm 140:10 – “Let hot coals fall on them.  Let them be thrown into the fire, into the abyss, never again to rise.”

Revelation 20:13 – And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them accorded to their deeds.  20:15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.  20:14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire.  This is the second death, the lake of fire.
